Over the Hills and Far Away is a 2003 music video drama brickfilm by Kristian Sandberg about a man who is wrongly imprisoned for robbery after he is not willing to admit to his whereabouts at the time: secretly seeing his best friend's wife.[1] It is set to the song of the same name by the Finnish band Nightwish, which is a cover of a song originally written and performed by Gary Moore.[2]

The film was created for the BrickFest 2003 Music Video Animation Competition, and Sandberg had to edit the song to keep it under the competition's 4-minute time limit.[3] It went on to win the award for Best Technical Animation in the competition.[4]

Plot

A thief breaks into a house and steals a gun from a drawer. Later, one night, the police arrest the man of the house for a robbery, as his pistol was found near the scene of the crime. He is brought in for questioning and reluctantly decides he cannot provide his alibi, as he had spent the night of the robbery with his best friend's wife and is determined to keep that a secret. He thinks back over his night with her, and a picture on the wall suggests that her husband is the actual robber.

The man is sent to prison for 10 years. He writes letters back and forth with the woman and dreams of being free so he can see her again. When he is eventually set free, he returns to her house and they are reunited at last.[1]
